Community engaged research is research that is conducted with communities and emphasizes collaboration throughout the research process – from identifying questions to designing studies, collecting and interpreting data, and sharing results in ways that benefit both science and community well-being.

Dr. Eric Anderson has a research program that investigates the effects of housing interventions for individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness. Conducted in close collaboration with Maine housing stakeholders, homeless service professionals, and individuals with lived experience, the research will evaluate the state’s largest-ever permanent supportive housing initiative. By analyzing the impact of these new housing developments, the research team aims to generate empirical evidence to inform policy and support an ultimate goal of eliminating chronic homelessness.
