Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research
Qualitative research is a way to study social meanings and processes, using interviews, observations, and the analysis of texts and images. Qualitative researchers use this naturalistic study of the social world to analyze how and why groups think and act in particular ways. Mixed methods research integrates this qualitative research with quantitative research (sometimes from epidemiological research) in a single study to provide a comprehensive understanding of complex research questions. Our research experts use qualitative and mixed methods research to provide insights about complex health issues of interest to Maine communities.
