Dr. Mike Kohut earned a PhD in Anthropology from Vanderbilt University in 2016, specializing in religion and education. He worked at Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety at Johns Hopkins to help evaluate an AHRQ pilot project to improve antimicrobial prescribing before joining CIPHR in 2018.
Dr. Kohut is trained and experienced in diverse social science methodologies: surveys, interviews, ethnography, cognitive tasks, and others. In his role as a Staff Scientist, Dr. Kohut primarily assists CIPHR faculty and other investigators at MaineHealth for qualitative data collection and analysis. He has been involved in studies on diverse topics, including precision oncology, harm reduction, cancer screening, and Covid-19 testing access.
