Emily L. Carter, MD is a Board Certified Geriatrician who practices at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She is the Medical Director of the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at both the Maine Medical Center Portland and Biddeford campuses and is the Associate Director of Inpatient Programs for MaineHealth Geriatric Care. Her research interests are primarily centered around delirium prevention and management with a focus on optimizing pharmacologic approach to delirium with behaviors. She is currently engaged as the local PI for the Evaluating Novel Healthcare Approaches to Nurturing and Caring for Hospitalized Elders (ENHANCE) trial, which is investigating common, evidence-based interventions for preventing delirium.
