The MHIR Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workgroup is committed to creating an equitable, inclusive environment that is welcoming to diverse staff, scientists, and collaborators. Our group comes together twice a month to examine how systemic racism impacts diversity in our professional spheres, the biomedical and health services research questions we ask, and how we carry out our research and communicate our findings. Our members bring with them a diverse range of professional backgrounds; we are physician scientists, basic scientists, social and behavioral scientists, data analysts, and administrative support staff. Meetings are 90 minutes and consist of didactic sessions led by experts and individuals with lived experience, as well as interactive group discussions.
