Teresa May completed medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by residency in Internal Medicine at Maine Medical Center, Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Maine Medical Center and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian/Cornell Hospital.
She now works as a pulmonary/medical/neurocritical care attending at Maine Medical Center.
She has been awarded a NIH career development grant to investigate variation in sedation and neuromuscular blockade practices on outcomes after cardiac arrest.
